Ibiza council to be granted power to restrict open-air music venues – Resident Advisor

The Council Of Ibiza will have the power to ban new open-air music venues once the Balearic Islands’ new tourism law comes into effect.

The law, which will apply to Mallorca, Menorca, Formentera and Ibiza, was passed on Tuesday, July 18th. Since then, an amendment has been made by the socialist PSOE party that grants the four local councils the power to “regulate, determine or prohibit, in a reasonable manner, tourist activities” related to entertainment, according to Diario De Ibiza. That applies to anywhere hosting musical events, including clubs, café conciertos, beach clubs and ballrooms.

“It was very clear that the tourism law needed to be modified,” said Vicent Torres, director of tourism for Ibiza council. “Such a previously liberal law offered the opportunity for activities that are incompatible with the day-to-day life of an island that wants a sustainable kind of tourism.” He added that every day “the shouts of the people get louder against a situation that distorts relaxing tourist zones.”

Despite the councils’ new powers, the amendment also states that the islands’ municipalities (in Ibiza that means San Antonio, San Juan etc) may apply more restrictive measures without the agreement of the corresponding council.

She was flying solo for her first holiday away with her baby, as Amy has split from Polly’s father Bradley Wright, 25.

In a recent interview, the reality star appeared to hit out at her jailbird former beau, claiming he is ‘not a good father’.

She took aim at Bradley – who also has a daughter, Lexi, from a previous relationship – for not being up to scratch as a parent but claimed she would never stop their newborn daughter from seeing him.

Asked whether he was a good father in New! magazine, Amy replied: ‘In my opinion, no, not really. I hope he becomes a better dad, as his kids deserve it.

‘When he was with me he was getting better. I’d seen them getting a bit of a bond. Lexi loves Brad but is he going to see her now? I don’t think so.’

The TOWIE star believes Bradley, who was jailed for handling stolen goods, hasn’t put enough effort into the baby or his seven-year-old daughter Lexi from a previous relationship.

Amy and Bradley had split just six weeks after welcoming Polly into the world together.

Speaking candidly about the devastating split, she admitted that she started to feel more like Bradley’s ‘mum’ than his fiancée, admitting that the two even began sleeping in separate rooms before they officially called time on their romance.

Amy confessed to OK! magazine: ‘When I found out I was pregnant, I said, “I want to work so hard to give her the best in life” but it felt like Brad wasn’t thinking about that…

‘Even when he came home from work he’d have a cuddle with her and he did that a little bit but then he’d go upstairs. I think he was just so over it. When she was crying in the night, he wouldn’t come in and say,”Can I help?” It was always me.’

Passenger horrified after his oxygen mask FAILED to drop as plane made emergency landing during flight from Ibiza to … – Daily Mail

  • John Hatfield, from Middlesbrough, was on a Jet2 flight from Ibiza to Leeds
  • After just 35 minutes the aeroplane was forced to urgently divert the flight
  • The 33 year-old had to frantically rip down a metal panel to access his mask
  • Claims he asked cabin crew for assistance, but they had taken their own seats

James Draper For Mailonline

A British man’s oxygen mask failed to drop during a plane’s 30,000-ft dive to an emergency landing, he claims.

John Hatfield had to frantically rip down a metal panel to access his safety mask when the Jet2 plane he was travelling on was forced to land 35 minutes into the flight.

The 33-year-old was on a flight from Ibiza to Leeds Bradford with his girlfriend when the ‘minor fault’ caused the plane to be diverted to Barcelona.

Fear factor: The 33-year-old (right) was on a flight from Ibiza to Leeds Bradford when the ‘minor fault’ caused the plane to be diverted and his oxygen mask failed to drop (left)

After an announcement from the pilot, all of the cabin’s oxygen masks dropped down apart from the ones belonging to John, his girlfriend and a man’s next to them which were lodged in the panel.

Mr Hatfield, from Middlesbrough, said: ‘The announcement just came on and the pilot said “prepare for emergency descent”.

‘It took a couple of seconds to register what was going on – and then everyone’s masks came down apart from the one on our row.

‘My girlfriend was really upset and crying. We were calling for the flight attendants and pressing the button for attention – but they had already sat down and put their own masks on.

‘I saw the panel was a little open, so I pulled at it to try and get the masks down.

‘Obviously in that situation you don’t know what to do – you don’t know if you should be pulling at the equipment.

He added: ‘Eventually we managed to get the masks on – but it was quite terrifying. Luckily it was me, but I hate to think what could have happened if it was a child or an old person who could not reach or was not strong enough to pull it open.’

John was travelling home from a holiday in Ibiza when the incident took place on Sunday. He said that the flight had been incredibly hot, but as they reached 10,000-ft the air conditioning failed and the temperature had become unbearable.

The physiotherapist said: ‘I was quite upset that Jet2 have not admitted the safety issues – it was really serious that the masks didn’t come down.

‘I completely understand that planes do need to make emergency landings, it is one of those things, but the safety breaches were just unacceptable and we were not prepared for the situation at all. I just want Jet2 to admit responsibility and I want them to incorporate better safety instructions.’

A spokesperson for Jet2 said the emergency landing was a result of a 'minor technical issue

A spokesperson for Jet2 said the emergency landing was a result of a ‘minor technical issue.

They said: ‘On Sunday 16th July, flight LS264 from Ibiza to Leeds Bradford diverted to Barcelona due to a minor technical issue.

‘We are aware of some sensationalist reporting regarding this divert so we would like to point out that our highly-trained crew followed procedure and made a controlled descent before landing safely.

‘All customers were flown to Leeds Bradford on a replacement aircraft. We would like to apologise to customers who were affected, however their safety and well-being will always be our number one priority.’

Elsewhere on the same flight, a mum sent a panicked text to her husband.

Nickola Tye from Sheffield said that when the captain started shouting on the speaker system about an emergency descent ‘all hell broke loose’, and thinking the plane was going to ground she messaged her husband saying, ‘If anything happens, I loved you’.

It was reported many were too scared to board another flight.

Whilst the couple have been dating for six years and been engaged for eight months, Pixie  recently admitted they had not even started planning their wedding yet.

Speaking on This Morning she said: ‘We haven’t had a chance! It’s been so busy, but hopefully we’ll have time to get round to it soon.’

Pixie and Oliver announced their engagement on Instagram in November – after the male model popped the question at St Paul’s Cathedral in central London.

Sharing a photo of the pair gazing into each other’s eyes, with the sparkling ring clear to see, the hunk had gushed to fans: ‘What a beautiful day and the most beautiful woman in the world said yes to me on it. Lucky man.’

Barbet Schroeder sets moving sociopolitical drama ‘Amnesia’ against scenic Ibiza backdrop – Los Angeles Times

The vibrant Ibiza sunshine brings some long-gestating resentments to light in Barbet Schroeder’s “Amnesia,” an affecting rumination on the moral weight of personal choices.

A longtime resident of the idyllic Mediterranean island, Martha (the ever-elegant Marthe Keller), had been living a quiet life of simplicity and relative solitude before the arrival of Jo (Max Riemelt), a 25-year-old electronic music composer from Berlin intent on making his name in the burgeoning club scene.

They proceed to strike up a sweetly poignant flirtation but it hits an impasse over German-born Martha’s refusal to ride in Jo’s Volkswagen and speak in her native tongue in protest over the atrocities committed during WWII.

Although Jo isn’t wrong to accuse Martha of confining her life to a self-imposed set of rules “stacked like scaffolding,” he was nevertheless born long after she witnessed the events that shaped her behavior.

Seat Ibiza first drive – Telegraph.co.uk

It revs freely, the three-cylinder thrum is well damped and the light-shifting, five-speed gearbox suits its power output. Like a lot of these little engines, however, the economy falls off a cliff if you drive briskly (we managed 38.7mpg against a Combined figure of 60.1mpg). If you live in a hilly area and regularly carry four adults, you’d need to consider at least the more powerful 1.0-litre model.

All told, Seat has done a terrific job within what were clearly stringent budgets, but there are some bum notes in there, not the least of which is the choice of cabin materials. Citroën’s Cactus addresses this issue by richly upholstering the things you touch or see, but leaving everything else bare. Seat could have learned from this because, as it stands, every time your hands are scraped by the Ibiza’s door handles, you’re reminded that this is a cheap car…

When is Made In Chelsea: Ibiza on E4

The first episode of Made In Chelsea: Ibiza airs on E4 on Monday July 31 at 9pm.

It goes up against DIY SOS on BBC One, 999 What’s Your Emergency on Channel 4 and All New Traffic Cops on Channel 5.

This is the fourth summer special series – we previously saw them head to New York, Los Angeles and the South of France.

If you miss any of the action, you can catch up with everything that happens in this series – as well as the other 13 so far – on All 4.

Who is in the MIC summer special cast?

The biggest shock to fans of the show is that series regular Ryan Libbey will barely be featuring.

The pair will not be playing a main role in the champagne fuelled dramas on the Balearic island of Ibiza – but never fear, they will be paying a surprise visit to the villa.

Louise Thompson and Ryan Libbey will only feature briefly in the Made In Chelsea summer special

Also not appearing are new parents JP. We last saw them in the spin-off, Born In Chelsea as they welcomed baby India, but ahead of the birth in June Binky confirmed that she would be pulling out of the show to concentrate on motherhood.

There’s plenty of action to come from the rest of the SW3 favourites including troubled couples Tiff Watson.

They are joined by new faces from series 13, Daisy Robins.

Mark-Francis Vandelli and Victoria Baker Harber on hand to dispense their posh words of wisdom.
