She was revealed as one of three new Doctor Who companions in a shock announcement on Monday night.

And Mandip Gill is now set to become a household name as she graces our TV screens every Saturday night in the upcoming series of the BBC sci-fi show.

In the wake of the news, throwback snaps of the former Hollyoaks star Mandip and her co-star Jennifer Metcalfe partying up a storm have surfaced.

Bikini-clad Jennifer was showing off some dance moves beside Mandip, who opted for a more modest shirt and shorts.

Mandip is best known for playing Phoebe Jackson in Hollyoaks, leaving the soap in 2015 before landing guest roles on the likes of Cuckoo and Doctors. 

She is now set to see her star soar after landed her most high-profile role to date, playing new companion Yasmin on the show.

Fans were sent into overdrive on Sunday night, as theBBC unveiled three new companions set to join Jodie Whittaker in the TARDIS. 

Bradley Walsh was confirmed to be joining the cast as a series regular, along with Hollyoaks stars Tosin Cole and Mandip.

In the first look photo, the Series 11 cast was revealed for the first time, and will make their screen debut in Autumn 2018.

Bradley, who is most well-known for hosting The Chase, as well as appearing in Law and Order: UK and Coronation Street, will play a new character called Graham, while Mandip will play Yasmin and Tosin will play Ryan.

The new Who cast told The Radio Times of their excitement to be performing in the iconic sci-fi drama, which has been on screens for 54 years.

Bradley said: ‘I remember watching William Hartnell as the first Doctor. Black and white made it very scary for a youngster like myself. I was petrified but even though I’d watch most of it from behind the sofa through my fingers, I became a fan. 

‘Am I thrilled to be part of this whole ground breaking new dawn for the Doctor?? Oh yes!’

Doctor Who will soon be under the writership of a new showrunner, with Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall set to take over from Steven Moffat at the end of this year. 

Bradley was previously rumoured to be joining the cast back in August, with fans torn on the prospect of the light-hearted comedian heading into space with Jodie Whittaker.

However, since Sunday’s announcement, Whovians have taken to social media with delight at the new cast.

Doctor Who will begin its transition to the new team this Christmas, when Peter Capaldi departs from the role after four years, in an epic festive departure feature Mark Gatiss and David Bradley as The First Doctor (originally played by William Hartnell)

Jodie Whittaker was first announced as the first female Doctor in history in July, with fans thrilled at the prospect of a woman manning the TARDIS. 

The new series is set to start filming soon, and will be a noticeably shorter season featuring only ten episodes, though each episode will be an hour long. 

Fans can say farewell to Peter Capaldi when Doctor Who returns on Christmas Day.
